The 1st Session of the Working Group on LEGAL, ETHICAL AND SOCIETAL IMPLICATIONS OF GENETICS (LESIG) took place at Tomsk State University (TSU) on 26 December 2017, and was hosted by the International Centre for Research in Human Development (ICRHD), TSU

The Session was attended by 16 experts from a range of areas of legal practice and research, including Human Rights, Employment/Labour, Crime, Insurance, Commercial, Constitution, as well as genetics.

During the First Session, the participants completed a number of interdisciplinary exercises; identified and discussed pressing legal and ethical issues; and planned future work.

A short update on genetic advancements was also provided during this Session by the organisers of the Session.

The 2nd Session of the Working Group (UK based) will be held in London in Feb 2018, hosted by InLab, Goldsmiths, University of London.
